Can Plex is a triple therapy formulated to meet the needs of the holistic practitioner. It combines three plant-derived, anti-fungal ingredients which have been extensively utilized on Candida patients with significant success. Using a single therapeutic agent may allow a few resistant yeast cells to survive. These survivors can go on to form a resistant strain (super infection). The rationale for using three superior anti-fungals is based on avoiding this eventuality. Some natural formulas include five, ten or even fifteen ingredients. It is the calcium salt of undecylenic acid (UA). UA is derived from castor bean oil and is an 11 carbon mono- unsaturated fatty acid (the antifungal properties of a medium chain fatty acid increases as the chain lengthens and peaks at 11--caprylic acid contains only 8 carbon chains). Observations that UA acted as a natural antifungal component of human sweat led to the development of effective anti-fungal products utilizing calcium undecylenate. Internal use studies also confirm the antifungal potential of this family of naturally derived compounds. Standardized Extract of Grapefruit (40 mg) is commonly referred to as "grapefruit seed extract". This botanical extract demonstrated powerful anti-fungal activity at concentrations as low as 200 parts per million. Its acidic nature augments the activity of calcium undecylenate which is most effective at a pH below 6.0. Lapacho morado (Pau D' Arco, 300 mg) is derived from the bark of the Taheebo tree, native to Brazil. Having noticed how resistant the Taheebo tree is to fungal, viral and bacterial attack, scientists investigated and found the bark to hold the key to this resistance. This natural product is mentioned in just about every holistically oriented book on Candida. It is not only praised for its effectiveness, but extremely well tolerated by most sensitive individuals. Glutamic Acid HCl (25 mg) serves to further reduce the pH of this formula to insure its proper delivery and activity of the calcium undecylenate. In a Rice Powder base. Contains no milk, wheat, yeast, eggs, soy, or other common allergens. Suggested Use: Starting with 1 to 2 capsules per day, increase dose by 1 capsule every two to three days until desired dose is achieved (most commonly 4 per day).
